Environmental Impact Study for South St. Elizabeth Southcoast Road Project – Black River to Gutters

With projected economic growth in St. Elizabeth, increased traffic volumes may be expected, and it was deemed important to improve the existing road infrastructure in South St. Elizabeth, which has not seen any expansion or real improvement for the past five decades. The South St. Elizabeth Traffic Study (SETS) aims to improve the South St. Elizabeth road network based on projected future traffic trends and current engineering standards. This includes proper drainage, based on current standards and the climate change impact, including more frequent and intense storms and higher peak runoffs and runoff volumes. Bypass Options for the Black River, Junction and Southfield Bypasses were examined and a final preferred alignment proposed.
